Contributions of late Kro reminisced on death anniversary

DIPHU, Jan 12: Observing the eighth death anniversary of Ratan Kro, a prominent social worker and president of RSS, Lorchoti Seva Dham organised a lecture on the life and works of late Kro for his contribution to social upliftment in Karbi Anglong at Farmers Growth Centre, here on Sunday.

The family members of the late Kro including Rajib Kro a popular film artist, Augustin Kro, and Sorobhi Kropi offered floral tribute on the portrait of the late Kro.

The main speaker of the programme Assam Ketrot Boudhik Pramukh of RSS, Tirthakha Das Kalita; Middle Karbi Anglong Zila Sankha Salakh, Domboru Kro; president, Lorchoti Seva Dham, Boloram Phangcho, and secretary Jemson Kro and RSS, Karbi Anglong president, Bien Hanse and secretary Binod Terang also offered floral tribute to late Kro.

Speaking on the life and contribution towards the society by the late Kro, Kalita said the late Kro was a true social worker who fully devoted his life to social cause.

“I have known Kro very well myself and he is a genuine person dedicating his whole life to society. For the promotion of education, Kro has donated land and set up schools for underprivileged children. He has also constructed temples and is also associated with socio-cultural reformation,” Kalita said.

“Everyone should learn from Kro about his philanthropy and immense contribution towards society,” he said.

Kalita also spoke in length on the values of life, environmental consciousness, and the impact of globalisation. He stated, “With extensive use of plastics, polythene bags and tea served in plastic cups in hotels and dumping them on the ground the earth is being polluted. For commercial purposes and building cities and towns, hills are being cut. Trees are mercilessly being felled.”

With the reduction of vegetation oxygen is being reduced, Kalita said and urged people to cultivate the habit of walking for a healthier life and avoid using plastic bags to reduce soil degradation.
