Crop Insurance Week organised

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 2: Biswanath district Agriculture department organised a workshop and awareness meeting on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana at Jinjia Inspection Bungalow on Thursday.
The Crop Insurance Week will be celebrated in almost every panchayat of the district from December 1 to 7 in conjunction with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Crop Insurance Week is aimed at creating awareness among farmers to insure their crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
The meeting was chaired by District Agriculture officer Deepak Barhoi, who explained the objectives and benefits of the scheme. Munindra Nath Nagatey, the deputy commissioner of Biswanath who was the chief guest of the awareness programme, urged all the farmers to participate in the ‘Crop Insurance Week’ and avail the benefits of notified crops under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme through insurance.
Sub-divisional agriculture officer and nodal officer of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Manoj Kumar Narzary and Agricultural Development officer of Jinjia Circle, Kamal Krishna Das briefed the farmers on the working methods, facilities and guidelines of the scheme.
The awareness meeting was attended by hundreds of farmers, other officers and employees of the Agriculture department, members of the insurance company and members of Jinjia Gaon Panchayat.
