Debolal Gorlosa Hoists Tricolour In Haflong, Vows To Fight Against Drugs And Alcoholism

Haflong, Aug 16: On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day celebration across the nation and the high spirit of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Dima Hasao also witnessed a grand celebration at N L Daulagupu Sports Complex in Haflong. Chief executive member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Debolal Gorlosa hoisted the national flag with deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed, ACS and superintendent of police Mayank Kumar, IPS on the dais beside him.

CEM Debolal Gorlosa paid floral tribute to the portrait of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, after which he inspected the guard of honour of the march past contentment. After unfurling the tricolor of the nation the chief guest of the programme Debolal Gorlosa spoke about various development activities and achievements under their Government.

Highly concerned about the growing threat of drug abuse and alcoholism among the youth of the district, CEM Debolal Gorlosa said that he and his team at council with the cooperation and coordination of the district council and police administration will fight against this menace with strong hands. He said that more than the users it is the suppliers that will be dealt with strictly. Informing about the awareness campaign against drug abuse he and his team have been visiting places and holding meetings since past few months.

Speaking about the recent disaster that took place in the district during the month of May and June, CEM Debolal Gorlosa said he and his team of council members and officials are continuously working for rectification of the damages that were caused during the natural calamity. Thanking Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support and such swift response during the crisis in the district, Debolal Gorlosa is confident that under his leadership the district along with the State of Assam will progress manifold. Praising the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing the entire nation together and harmoniously celebrate the 75 years of the Indian Independence, he said the patriotism and love for ones nation is visible in mass participation from every nook and corner of the country.

The celebration was widely participated by the citizens who came to witness the programme with all excitement. Others present during the celebration were chairperson of NCHAC, executive members and MACs of NCHAC, principal secretaries, secretaries, ADCs, Army Commandant, officers from various departments, media, senior citizens and general public.
