Dermee Pegu’s book ‘Da: eying:’ released

SIVASAGAR, Jan 1: “Da: eying:”, a book written by Dermee Pegu, Assistant Professor at Dibrugarh University Institute of Technology was released on Thursday at the Sivasagar Seujpur residence of Sahityacharjya Nahendra Padun in the presence of an august gathering.

The book was formally released by Sahityacharjya Nahendra Padun and has been published by the Nahendra Padun Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Padun said that the book, which is based on Mising folklores, would serve as an important resource for new researchers and scholars.

Dr Jyoti Prasad Shaikia, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath Barua University, Jorhat, in his address encouraged the author to continue her literary contributions focusing on important aspects of social life.

The meeting was chaired by former president of the Sivasagar Jila Sahitya Sabha, Juga Gogoi. Songs written by Nahendra Padun were presented by radio artists Suruya Kumar Patiri and Diptirani Pegu. The event was moderated by Santosh Dutta.

The programme was attended by Ponaram Milli, Dr Pavithra Kumar Pegu, Dr Prashant Kumar Chutia, Binowa Taye, Himadrijyoti Dutta, Maneshwar Milli, Gangamohan Milli, Enamuddin Ahmed, Shadikur Rahman, Suryakant Das, Uttam Bori, Rajen Milli, Brajen Phukan and Satya Prabha Gogoi, among others.
