DGP Reviews Law And Order Situation In Upper Assam

JORHAT, May 24: Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Tuesday held a meeting with senior police officials of five upper Assam districts regarding the law and order situation.

Mahanta said that the discussions pertained to the ULFA threats to oil companies, and how best to secure the state from external and internal threats.

In response to a query regarding youths once again joining ULFA, Mahanta said that this had also been perceived by the police and that the people of Assam will teach them a lesson.

Among the officials present were the SPs of Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Majuli.

Later he told officials that he was en route to Sivasagar to inspect the Gunotsav.
