DIPHU, March 4: In a significant literary event for the media fraternity, the Chief Editor of ‘Pratidin Time’, Nitumoni Saikia, officially released the autobiographical work of veteran journalist and author Dharmendra Khakhlari on March 2.
The book, titled “Mor Sangbadikata Aru Samajik Karma Jibanar Chamu Parikrama” (A Brief Journey of My Journalistic and Social Work Life), was unveiled at the ‘Pratidin Time’ office located on Zoo Road, Guwahati.
During the launch, Nitumoni Saikia lauded the work, stating that it is far more than just a personal memoir. He described it as an inspiring blueprint for public-interest journalism.
Dharmendra Khakhlari, a senior journalist associated with the daily ‘Asomiya Pratidin’, has spent his career spotlighting core issues of rural society. His reporting has consistently addressed infrastructural deficits, including roads and transport, educational and healthcare challenges, access to clean drinking water, as well as anti-corruption efforts and administrative negligence.
For Khakhlari, journalism is not merely a profession but a powerful medium for social service. His book provides a factual and detailed account of his professional struggles, triumphs and involvement in social movements, serving as a roadmap for the next generation of media professionals.
Beyond the newsroom, Dharmendra Khakhlari is recognised as a sensitive poet and dedicated man of letters. This latest 2026 release adds to his notable bibliography, which includes the 2010 work “Akashar Para Khahi Paril Eta Tej Ranga Surya”; “Atmopalabdhi”; the 2014 title “Bodo Kristir Nirab Sadhak Khirod Khakhlari” and the 2023 publication “Mahat Lokar Amrit Bani.”
His latest autobiography offers a holistic view of his life’s struggles, reinforcing the values of impartial journalism and social responsibility.
The launch ceremony was attended by Khakhlari’s family, including his wife Rupali Basumatary, daughter Amrita Khakhlari and son Chandan Khakhlari. Several close associates and colleagues, including Samaraj Chauhan, Narayan Baruah, Ratnakanta Pathak and Subhash Basumatary were also present.
The event concluded with Dharmendra Khakhlari expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the guests and his long-time supporters for their role in his journey.
