District level closing ceremony of 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan in Haflong

HAFLONG, Nov 25: District level closing ceremony of week-long celebrations of 400th birth anniversary of legendary Ahom general Bir Lachit Borphukan was held at District Library Auditorium Hall in Haflong.
A live broadcast of the celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan was telecasted from New Delhi at the District Library Auditorium Hall, with the Prime Minister’s vision to honour the unsung heroes in a befitting manner. PM Narendra Modi addressed the closing ceremony of the week-long celebrations of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan in New Delhi. The Prime Minister also released the book – ‘Lachit Borphukan – Assam’s Hero who Halted the Mughals’ on the occasion.
After the end of the visual live telecast programme, prizes were handed over to the students who have won in the event like essay, art, extempore speech and quiz competition.
The programme was attended by deputy commissioner of Dima Hasao, Nazreen Ahmed, ACS; principal secretary, NCHAC, Thai Tsho Daulagupu; ACS, superintendent of police, Dima Hasao, Mayank Kumar; IPS, additional deputy commissioner, Lalrohlu Thiek; ACS, additional deputy commissioner, Kim Chin Lhangum; ACS, inspector of schools Gayatri Naiding; principal of Haflong Government College, Madhumita Daulagupu and other dignitaries and students were also present.
