Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award 2022 inaugurated at Nagaon

NAGAON, Dec 9: District Education department, on Friday, ceremonially inaugurated the distribution of scooty among the meritorious students who cleared HS final examination in the current year with 75 percent marks and above in Nagaon district as part of the Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award 2022, under Pragyan Bharati Scheme sponsored by Assam Higher Education department, govt of Assam.
At a function organised at ‘Ganapati Hero’ Nagaon, a leading scooty dealer near Bebejia, the local MLA Rupak Sarma inaugurated the distribution programme in the district and ceremonially distributed scooty among a few meritorious students. Sunil Bora, district transport officer, Nagaon and Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of Nowgong College (autonomous) attended the programme as guests.
In his inaugural speech, MLA Sarma claimed that among the entire state, the highest number of meritorious students from the district would get scooty under the scheme this time. Boys will get the blue colour scooty while the girls will receive the red colour scooty, Sarma asserted.
It is pertinent to mention that the award will be presented to both boys and girls who secured 75 and above percent marks in the last HS final examination and over 3500 students from the district will be awarded with scooty this time under Pragyan Bharati Scheme sponsored by Higher Education department.
