DIPHU, Dec 27: The draft photo electoral roll for 2026 for three Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Karbi Anglong district—Diphu, Bokajan and Howraghat—was released on Saturday, with January 1, 2026 fixed as the qualifying date.
The draft roll was released by the District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Nirola Phangchopi, at a press conference held at the District Commissioner’s office conference hall here.
Briefing media persons, the DC said copies of the draft photo electoral roll would be available during office hours at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers and the respective Booth Level Officers.
As per the draft electoral roll for 2026, Bokajan LAC has 78,627 male voters and 79,575 female voters, with no transgender voters, taking the total to 1,58,202.
Howraghat LAC has 95,868 male voters, 99,110 female voters and five transgender voters, with a total electorate of 1,94,983. Diphu LAC has 92,327 male voters, 94,765 female voters and 11 transgender voters, bringing the total to 1,86,903.
Overall, the three constituencies together have 2,66,822 male voters, 2,73,249 female voters and 16 transgender voters, taking the total number of electors to 5,40,088.
Phangchopi also shared a comparison with the final electoral roll published on January 6, 2025.
As per the final roll for 2025, the three LACs together had 2,60,154 male voters, 2,65,228 female voters and no transgender voters, with a total electorate of 5,25,415.
The draft roll for 2026 thus shows an increase of 6,668 male voters, 8,021 female voters and 16 transgender voters, marking an overall increase of 14,673 electors.
The DC informed that claims and objections regarding inclusion of names or correction of details in the electoral roll, with reference to the qualifying date of January 1, 2026, can be submitted in the prescribed Forms 6, 7 and 8 between December 27, 2025 and January 22, 2026.
She said all claims and objections would be disposed of by February 2, 2026, and the final electoral roll would be published on February 10, 2026.
She added that claims and objections can also be filed online through the Election Commission of India portal at voters.eci.gov.in.
