NAGAON, August 3: Expressing his concern over the drugs menace prevailing in the Nagaon district, Assam government’s senior minister Pijush Hazarika on Wednesday said that the drugs dealers as well as the peddlers and small scale traders have been regaining strength in various corners of the district despite earlier police crackdown. Alongside the meet, talking to the press persons, minister for water resources, IPR and others Hazarika said, “I have already directed the Nagaon district police administration to take adequate measures to tackle the situation as early as possible. The drugs dealers, peddlers and small scale traders have been regaining strength in various corners of the district despite earlier police crackdown. I urged the police not to tolerate the reappearance of such anti-social elements.”

Minister Hazarika stressed that the BJP-led state government has been continuing its fight against the trend. “Zero tolerance against drugs will never be compromised. Rather, to intensify the fight, I have already directed the district police administration to take strict action against the drug dealers,” he further said.

Referring to the recent row over anti national activities in some madrasha, the minister said the government would not tolerate any such anti national activities and strict action would be taken soon against such madrasha schools.
