Guwahati, Oct 09: The Assam government has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandipan Garg, who served as In-Charge Co-District Superintendent of Police, Boko-Chaygaon, Kamrup, following his arrest in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg.
The suspension order, issued by the Governor of Assam, came into effect immediately after Garg was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the CID headquarters in Guwahati.
According to officials, Garg was arrested at 10:56 AM under CID PS Case No.18/2025, booked under Sections 61(2)/105/106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, with Section 103 later added after the SIT reportedly found substantial evidence against him.
The court has granted seven days of police custody, after which he will be remanded to judicial custody on October 15. During his suspension and any period of release, his headquarters will remain at the Assam Police Headquarters in Ulubari, Guwahati, pending further review.
