Earthquake emergency drill conducted in ONGC

SIVASAGAR, Aug 26: The emergency response of ONGC Assam Asset was put to test on Thursday in the mock drill conducted in ONGC’s Nazira Colony by the 12 BN National Disaster Relief Force, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
A mock earthquake scenario has been simulated. The drill involved rescue exercises from multi-storied buildings using ladders and pulleys, and cutting of iron debris.
The earthquake drill is a periodic exercise conducted by ONGC to empower its security force and employees to face disaster situations. NDRF, SDRF, CISF, Assam Police participated in the mock exercise.
Later, the NDRF personnel debriefed an additional session instructing the residents on safety measures during an earthquake and accidental fires, followed by a stepwise guide to various first-aid measures which included a demo of CPR during a crisis. A brief on the tools was displayed followed after the session.
Upon completion of the drill, the officials reviewed the preparedness and response levels of the community members and personnel involved and sought to raise and improve awareness by focusing on the gaps to create a cycle of continuous improvements.
The mock exercise was conducted in association with the personnel of NDRF, SDRF, CISF, Assam Police, and residents of ONGC Nazira Asset. The NDRF was led by Abhinav Kashyap, deputy commandant. The security section of ONGC coordinated with all the participating agencies.
