SIVASAGAR, Jan 22: Commissioner of Transport Manbendra Pratap Singh, appointed as the Electoral Roll Observer for Sivasagar district by the Election Commission of India, visited Sivasagar on Wednesday and held a review meeting on the special amendment process of voter lists in view of the upcoming Assembly elections. District Election Officer and District Commissioner Mridula Yadav, IAS, warmly welcomed the Observer at the outset of the meeting.
During the review, the Observer held detailed discussions with Registration Officers, Booth Level Supervisors and Booth Level Officers and briefed them on various aspects of the ongoing special amendment process, including claims and objections. He emphasised the need for utmost seriousness and diligence in ensuring that the voter lists for the 95th Demow, 96th Sivasagar and 97th Nazira Assembly constituencies are transparent, error-free and impartial before their publication for the Assembly Elections 2026.
Manbendra Pratap Singh also interacted with representatives of recognised political parties and discussed issues related to electoral roll revision. Election Officer Aditi Neog made a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the special amendment process during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Nazira Co-District Commissioner Pratibha Meshram, Additional Deputy Commissioners Lukumani Bora, Sonatrishna Gharphalia and Meenakshi Perme, Assistant Commissioners Chandana Jahnavi and Bidisha Shaikia, along with Election Registration Officers, Assistant Election Registration Officers, Booth Level Supervisors, Booth Level Officers and representatives of recognised political parties.
