Excise raid at Margherita

MARGHERITA, Jan 1: An excise search, patrolling and raid was conducted on Friday night jointly by the Margherita and Digboi Excise Team under the supervision of Prasanta Dutta, DSE, Margherita at Margherita town, Lekhapani, Namdang Gaon, Jagun, Jagun Ghat, Karpungpuli, under Margherita sub-division of Tinsukia district.
Approximately 25 litres of illicit distilled liquor and 300 litres of fermented wash were seized and 2 number of cases were detected.
The team also patrolled picnic spots like Jagun Ghat and Namdang Gaon and urged the people to adhere to picnic guidelines and not consume alcohol in public places and a naka checking at Lekhapani along Stillwell Road, NH 315 and Margherita town was also carried out.
