Father of state cabinet minister UG Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 9: Harkeswar Brahma, the father of Assam cabinet minister and founding president of
United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), Urkhao Gwra Brahma, passed away at a private hospital in
Kokrajhar. He was about 90 years old.
Minister UG Brahma confirmed his father’s demise on his social media handle, paying tribute to his
selfless father who had dedicated his 90-year journey to the well-being of his children. Harkeswar
Brahma was a well-known social worker in the greater Chalani Batabari area near Dotma in Kokrajhar
district.
Prominent political figures, including Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial
Region (BTR) and UPPL president, Rajya Sabha MP and UPPL working president Rwngwra Narzary, MLA
Lawrence Islary, UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary, and others, visited the Brahma family to
offer their condolences and pay their respects.
CEM Pramod Boro expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved family and well-wishers, hoping that
the departed soul may rest in peace. The Bodo Sahitya Sabha and All Bodo Students Union also
extended their condolences to the family.
