JORHAT: A fire tender put out a blaze at a garbage dump in the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, on Friday.
A source said that the fire was so massive that it threatened to spread to a nearby building of the hospital, putting the lives of patients at risk.
The fire is suspected to have been accidentally lit when someone threw a lighted cigarette or match in the pile of garbage which contained plastics and bamboo.
