Sources claimed that in connection with the ongoing sensational dacoity incidents, Nagaon Police arrested Pappu Bora, Shoriful Islam, and Mahmud Hussain from Nagaon Dakorghat under Nagaon PS last Sunday. Police recovered Rs 1.80 lakh in cash, a luxury car bearing registration number AS 23N 6177, and a vehicle hijacked by them.

Following the arrest of these three culprits, Nagaon Police on Monday arrested two other culprits involved in a sensational on-road robbery near Missa Rowmari area, identified as Baharul Islam of Borghat under Rupahihat PS and Mujamil Hussain of Konuwamai under Samaguri PS. The main kingpin of the gang, identified as Roshidul Haque, is still absconding.

Superintendent of police, Nagaon, Navaneet Mahanta, affirmed that the police would leave no stone unturned to ensure the exemplary punishment of these notorious dacoits.

It’s pertinent to mention here that the gang of dacoits intercepted a car near Missa Rowmari on NH 37 on Friday night while a newly married couple along with their family members were returning home from participating in the ceremony of ‘Aanthmongala’, a post-wedding ritual organised at a Guwahati-based family of the bride. They injured three occupants of the car and also attempted to snatch the gold ornaments of the bride. Earlier, the dacoits hijacked two vehicles – one supari-laden Bolero pickup van from Kaliabor Tiniali and another vehicle hijacked from Raha areas.
