Former DNB Chairman Daniel Ingti  Passes Away

DIPHU, Nov 2: Former chairman of Diphu Municipal Board (DMB) and a popular folk fusion musician Daniel Ingti passed away on Wednesday after suffering from a stroke.

Ingti was a resident of Rong Karbi in Diphu. He is survived by his wife and a two and a half year old son and aunty. His mortal remains will be laid to rest at the cemetery of the Bible Baptist Church in Diphu on Friday.

According to his family, the former DMB chairman reached home on his scooter around 7 pm and suddenly fell on the ground. He was immediately taken to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His death occurred due to a stroke, doctors said.

Several political leaders, friends and well wishers arrived at his residence to pay their last tribute to Ingti, who was also also the general secretary of ST Morcha, BJP, East Karbi Anglong district committee. Many also took to social media to express their grief on the occasion.

Chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang visited Ingti’s residence to pay his last respect. The CEM in his condolence message said, “I offer my prayer and final adieu to the departed late Daniel Ingti. Rest in Peace my good friend.”

MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Dorsing Ronghang and president of, BJP, EKADC, Roland Killing also visited Ingti’s residence to offer prayer and condolences to0 the bereaved family.

Ingti was the son of late Sarsing Engti and late Rameswari Rongpharpi. He was born on January 1, 1982. He did his schooling from Hojai Don Bosco School. He did his graduation from the Diphu Govt. College here.

He developed his interest in music during his college days and formed a band called Excruciator, a Karbi rock band and produced his own albums ‘Nihang Anat’ and Kaike.

Later, he also formed ‘Jambili’ a folk fusion rock band, where he was the vocalist and director. He has composed popular songs like ‘School dun nangji,’ Sengve jadi tha nang, Linchika, ‘Baideu long’ and many more. He has performed on different platforms within Karbi Anglong and outside. He is also associated with Karbi Human Rights Watch and Ruru Rara, an entertainment channel.

He stepped into politics with the Indian National Congress party. In 2012 he was elected as ward commissioner from Ward No.5 of Diphu town and was again elected as chairman of Diphu Town Committee, now the Diphu Municipal Board from 2012 to 2014. He joined the BJP in 2022.
