Four held in lynching case in Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, Nov 24: Following the lynching of an employee of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the police arrested four accused involved in the case.

According to sources, a woman allegedly having an affair with the lynched victim, who is also the wife of one of the accused persons, has committed suicide.

The four accused Babu Engti, Hemsing Engti, Bimal Sing Bey and Chesong Rongpi were arrested on Thursday morning.

Suspecting Chatra of having an illicit relationship with the wife of Bimal Sing Bey, the accused persons took Chatra to the house of another accused and physically assaulted him.

As stated in the FIR, the SP Sanjib Kumar Saikia said that Chatra was brought to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The matter is being investigated and what really happened will be known later, the SP added.
