GUWAHATI, Oct 17: An EGPD team from Hatigaon PS busted a gang of ATM swappers, who were duping innocent people, a release said on Sunday.
88 ATM cards, 3 POS machines, 4 cars, 10 mobile phones and Rs 15,000 cash were recovered from the gang’s possession.
The six arrested are Lotfar Rahman (Rocky) of Barpeta, Aminul Haque (Amin) of Barpeta, hanifur Rahman of Sonapur Pathar, Shahidul Islam of Barpeta, Bubul Ahmed of hatigaon and Ziaur Haque of bongaigaon.
Following the report of a swap and unauthorised withdrawal of Rs 68,000 from an ATM at Kerakuchi on October 5, the six accused were caught with the help of technical analysis by the team of officials.
A case No 461/22 U/S 379 of IP R/W Sec 66(D) of the IT Act has been registered against them.
