Gang of smartphone thieves apprehended

BOKAJAN, Aug 7: Six smartphone thieves were arrested by the police on Friday evening. The police conducted a search in relation to a case Bokajan PS case No. 64/2022; u/s. 457/380 IPC in Bokajan, Khatkhati and Dimapur in Nagaland. The phones were tracked by their IMEI number for the last two days.
In the operation, the police recovered 31 stolen Android phones and one DSLR Nikon camera.
The apprehended has been identified as Bablu Das (28), son of late Raja Das of Naga Cemetery, under West Dimapur police station, Nagaland; Ito Achumi alias Biki (32), son of Ineshe Achumi of Borlengri, Khatkhati, permanent address: Natun Basti, under West Dimapur police station, Nagaland; Chandan Kumar Sha (27), son of Shajani Sha of Borlengri, Khatkhati; Maina Konwar (27), son of late Lalit Konwar of Kalibari Dikowpuria Namghar, under Sivasagar police station, Sivasagar; Sofikul Ali alias Babu Ali alias Kaniya (26), son of late Raju Ali, village- Simaluguri near railway station, Simaluguri police station, Sivsagar and Akshay Dum alias Virad (27), son of Prahalad Dum of Mariani Railway Colony, Mariani police station, Jorhat.
Crime Branch of Dimapur, Nagaland Police helped in the recovery and detection of the stolen gadgets. The search operation is still on to apprehend one more accused and recover the other remaining 20 stolen mobile phones.
