Golden jubilee celebration of Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha gets underway

NAGAON, Dec 2: The closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration of Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha has started here at Sahityacharya Jajneswar Sarma Kshetra at Nagaon Nehrubali field from Friday onwards, with a three-day long programme.

The programme was initiated with the hoisting of 50 flags of Asom Sahitya Sabha on Friday morning, where the main flag was unfurled by Paran Kr Boruah, president, Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha, while the 50 ceremonial lights were lit led by Mrinal Hazarika, secretary to Nagaon regional office, Asom Sahitya Sabha in presence of local MLA Rupak Sarma and former minister Girindra Kr Boruah.

During the day, a memorial lecture as well as an interaction was held. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Naren Kalita, noted scholar of Sankari culture and traditions. Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha and the current BJP MLA from Sipahjar constituency was present in the programme as the chief guest. During the programme, Jadav Chandra Sarma, secretary general of Asom Sahitya Sabha was also present.

Books penned by Atul Chandra Kakoti, Ranjana Bora, Dr Bhadra Kanta Bora and Dilip Kumar Bora were also ceremonially released during the programme.

It is noteworthy to be mentioned here that the closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration will be concluded on Sunday next.
