HAFLONG, Jan 5: The Guru Govind Singh Jayanti was celebrated in Haflong on Thursday with full festivity and gaiety. The day-long program started in the premises of Haflong Gurdwara with prayer, kirtan and ardas, Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is a Sikh festival that commemorates the birthday of Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. It is a religious celebration in which prayers for prosperity are offered.
On the occasion, Dima Hasao deputy commissioner, Nazreen Ahamed; deputy commandant of 32 Assam Rifle MJC Singha and people from all other communities were present to mark the occasion. On the day, ‘Guru ka Langar’ was also served to the devotees.
On the auspicious occasion, Nirmal Singh, secretary of Sri Guru Singh Sabha, on behalf of the Sikh people extended best wishes and message of love, peace, brotherhood and progress among all communities in the district.
