GUWAHATI, Nov 10: The Guwahati Theatre Society, a new addition to the cultural landscape of Assam, is all set to premiere its first production, ‘Sarkari Investigator’, an Assamese adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s celebrated play ‘The Government Inspector’. This exciting adaptation, directed by Gayatri Sharma, will be staged on November 14, 2024, at the Shri Shri Madhavdeva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
The Guwahati Theatre Society was founded with the vision of building a creative and connected community. In an era where digital interactions often replace genuine human connections, the Society aims to bridge this gap through the power of live theatre. Gayatri Sharma, president of the Guwahati Theatre Society and a seasoned actor and drama teacher, has performed in Assamese, Hindi, and English plays at both national and international levels, including the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the National Theatre of Scotland in Glasgow.
