Handloom Mela (State Handloom Expo-SHE) Inaugurated at Morigaon

Morigaon, 17 Sept: A vibrant Handloom Mela (State Handloom Expo – SHE) was inaugurated by Addl. District Commissioner Anusuya Sarma  at Morigaon Bihutoli ground today.The 14 day handloom mela was  Organized.by the Assam Govt marketing corporation Limited.

Ambari under sponsorship the Development Commissioner(Handloom) Ministry of Textiles ,Govt of India ,New Delh .The expo aims to promote Assam’s rich handloom heritage, showcase the craftsmanship of  weavers, and  artisan provide them with a wider marketing platform.

The inaugural programme was graced by Anusuya Sharma, Additional District Commissioner, Morigaon, who appreciated the efforts of the organisers in bringing together artisans and weavers under one roof. She emphasised the importance of such initiatives in empowering rural artisans and strengthening the handloom sector. Earlier a felicitation programme was held.

The felicitation  programme was moderated  by Dhiraj Sarma ,DGM,AGMC.He felicited the invited guests  with a traditional gamusa and a sorai each .  Jayanta N.Mangalpalli,Assist. Director of Development Commissioner,Govt.of India,  GM of AGMC Dr. Jayanta Dev Sarma and Assist.Director  of Handloom & Textiles,Morigaon Pranita Barua also spoke on the event  at length .

Altogether 60 stalls of the state took part in the mela.The mela commenced from September 15 and will conclude on September 28,2025.

Several senior officials, respected members, and representatives from various departments were also present and extended their full support to make the event a success.
