DIPHU, Dec 16: Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR) – National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi has undertaken survey exploration and collection of indigenous plant genetic resources in different parts of Karbi Anglong district in collaboration with Donsuri Agri Co-operative Society and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Diphu.
Several indigenous fruits, vegetables and millets were collected from the remote villages including citrus fruits. The collected germplasm would be conserved in the national gene poll in ICAR, NBPGR, New Delhi for conservation.
Principal scientist of ICAR – National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi (NBPGR), Dr SK Malik; scientist of ICAR – National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi, Dr OP Dharwal; Mohon Rongpi, Chandra Bey, Adison Terang, Longbir Bey and Ramesh Hanse of Donsuri Argi Co-operative Society also took part in the exploration.
