IKPAKA Performs Sacrificial Offering for Prosperity of Five Karbi Clans

DIPHU, June 21:
The Inglongkiri Pran Amunsin Kurupo Amei (IKPAKA) have performed a Karbi traditional sacrificial offering to the Karbi deities Hemphu, Mukrang, Rasinja and Inglongkiri than for the prosperity and good life of the five Karbi clans. The ceremony was done in front of bongkrok/ gourd statue at the bus stand on Monday.
Kurupo Sarkuru Tisso and assisted by other traditional priests Kolomsing Bey, Kania Kramsa, Dorsing Tisso and Welson Tisso performed the ritual by offering a goat, fowls and hens to Hemphu, Mukrang, Rasinja, Inglongkiri than, Inglong Ariso than and kona avur for protection from evil and diseases.
Kurupo, Sarkuru Tisso said the IKPAKA has offered sacrifice to Hemphu Mukrang, Rasinja and Inglongkiri to seek favour from them to ward off all sickness and bring good life and prosperity to the Karbi society.
The sacrifice is offered to seek favour from the deities for all Karbis irrespective of their faith as Karbis are one, Tisso said. He said the IKPAKA will continue to seek favour from the deities for the wellbeing of the Karbi society.
This is the first instance that the IKPAKA has come out on the street to do the Karbi way of traditional worship to the deities.
More than 200 men, women and youths following Karbi traditional belief participated in the religious gathering.
A meeting was also held where persons like noted singer Sarthe Rongpi; Wophong Asar, Longsing Bey; Longri Asar, Longki Bey; president, Waisong Ser Hongthom Amei, Hukleswar Bey and women leaders of Rasinja Asong delivered speeches to bring more consciousness on the importance of practices.
