Illegal teak logs seized in Morigaon, two arrested

MORIGAON, May 28:
 Morigaon Forest Office seized a vehicle carrying 18 teak logs illegally on Saturday night. They also arrested two accused involved in the illegal activities. The two accused are the residents of Ahatguri village in Morigaon district – Praveen Das (28) and Amal Das (18). Another suspect managed to escape. The accused was identified as Bhakta Patar. The vehicle used in the crime was identified as AS 21 C 1852 and the timber seized weighed about 34 cubic feet and the value of the seized leak logs is supposed to be around Rs 50,000. The timber is currently being kept at the Morigaon Forest Office premises. The timber is suspected to have been cut from the Tetelia-Baghara reserve and smuggled. The two accused are currently in police custody of Morigaon police station.
