 ‘Karbi Anglong has entered into a new era of development’

DIPHU, Aug 16: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)’s chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang has said that the twin districts of the council have entered into a new era of development. He claimed that every corner of the council’s hill districts will be connected by roads and bridges in a short span of time. The KAAC chief said this while addressing the Independence Day celebration organised at the Diphu Govt Boys HS school playground on Monday.

Stating that the Karbi Anglong district headquarters, Diphu has already been recognised as one of the fastest growing towns in the Northeast region, the council chief said, “Urban parts of the districts have been connected with four-lane roads. Constructions of such improved roads will be expanded and gradually every nook and corner of the hill districts will be connected by roads and bridges.”

The KAAC chief also mentioned of the Diphu flyover, which has been undergoing constructions, proposed greenfield airport, medical colleges, veterinary colleges, agriculture colleges and engineering colleges as a mark of multi-pronged development and said, “The KAAC has been putting its all-out efforts to upgrade of Assam University, Diphu Campus, into a full-fledged Central University.”

Ronghang also stressed that the implementation of Article 244(A) is the shared aspiration of the people of Karbi Anglong and therefore, the KAAC has given its priority to achieve the common goal.

“All possibilities will be explored to make it a reality in the coming days. Moreover, tribal customary village courts will be established soon,” he further said, adding that appointment letters to three Village Courts, namely On Bey village, Sikari Tisso (Cheksolangso) village and Ramsing Hanse village will be ceremonially distributed.

During the occasion, the CEM also handed over appointment letters to three customary village courts (CVC) – Sikari Tisso – Rong Asar (village headman) as president of Sikari Tisso CVC; Longki Hanse – Rong Asar as president of Ramsing Hanse CVC and Longki Bey – Rong Asar as president of On Bey CVC.
