SIVASAGAR, Oct 17: Noted litterateur Padmashree Imran Shah received the inaugural ‘Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah Award’ instituted by All Assam Students Union in a function held in Shah’s residence on Sunday by a team of the students’ organisation led by Dipanka Kumar Nath, president, Uddiptajyoti Gogoi, adviser, Samiran Phukan, assistant secretary, Raiffuddin Ahmed, organising secretary, Parag Dutta, executive member, Manob Hazarika, Sivasagar district president, and Dipankar Saikia, district secretary.
Receiving the award, Imran Shah said, “Lakshminath Bezbaruah was a class apart as a writer, and his style was inimitable.”
Shah urged AASU to do the needful in keeping the standard and prestige of the award high.
Educationist Monica Saikia, chairman, Sivasagar Municipality Board, Mrinalee Konwar, Wali Ullah, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Hakikur Rahman, Deven Dutta, and Anjali Baruah Phukan were present on the occasion.
