SIVASAGAR, April 1: The Sibsagar Commerce College has been recognised as a skill hub centre by the NSDC for running two National Skill Qualification Framework Level 4 certificate courses viz, Beauty Therapist and Food & Beverage Service Associate under the department of Computer Application and Commerce.
Inaugurating the centre on Thursday, Bitupon Neog ADC, Sivasagar, mentioned that getting a skill hub centre in the college is an achievement for the institution. This would provide enormous opportunities for the unemployed youths of the district. Dr Saumerjyoti Mahanta, the principal of the college in his speech mentioned the guidelines of NSDC which needs to be strictly followed by the trainees as well as the trainers. Attending the inaugural program, vice-principal Dr Ratul Sharma stated about the inclusive effort given by the college in imparting skill development courses. More than a hundred people including faculties, staff, and students attended the program which was initiated by the coordinators of the courses. It is worth mentioning that Sibsagar Commerce College has been successfully running several skill development courses like Event management, E-Commerce, GST, Mass Communication, Wildlife Photography, Retail Marketing, Web Design, etc. Since 2014, through the Hospitality Management course under the UGC Community College program more than 100 students got placement in different hospitality industries.
