The source of the inferno, according to sources, is due to a short circuit. The fire reportedly broke out around 11:30 pm on Thursday at a private plot of land opposite to Hatigaon masjid at Ajanta path- Hatigaon Chariali link road. The plot housed temporary makeshift shelters made of bamboo which ultimately helped the fire to spread in a fast manner. However, as many as 40 fire service vehicles rushed to the spot to tend the fire.

No loss of lives has been reported after the fire broke out. Locals said that fire tenders couldn’t immediately access the area given the congested lane leading to the area.
