In a press statement, the Committee said the reports were misleading, noting that certain anti-Congress elements had misused the official pad of the District Committee to circulate false claims of mass resignations. The statement said the reports were aimed at creating confusion among the public.

The Committee also clarified that the report allegedly spread by Bittu Baruah was false, adding that no such person exists in the Congress in Jorhat.
