Jorhat DLSA To Organise Lok Adalats

JORHAT,  Aug 8: 
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jorhat will organise a National Lok Adalat on August 13 at the premises of Judicial Courts at Jorhat and Titabar.
DLSA, Jorhat, secretary-cum-judicial officer Devojyoti Bhuyan informed that altogether 11 benches of Judicial Courts at Jorhat and Titabar along with six benches of district magistrate courts will take up 2109 cases.
He said that the cases to be taken up were compoundable offences under Indian Penal Code, the Negotiable Instruments and other Special Acts, Family disputes, Civil suits and also Motor Accident Claim Tribunal and Revenue cases.
Bhuyan further said that 14002  pre-litigation cases of Bank, BSNL and APDCL will also be taken up for settlement in the Lok Adalat, and for speedy and maximum disposal of the cases pre Lok Adalat sittings were being held in concerned courts and institutions with the aid of conciliators, para legal volunteers and law students.
The DLSA secretary said that parties could reach a settlement in any sitting till the day of the National Lok Adalat was organised. Bhuyan stated the significance of the Lok Adalat is that apart from speedy disposal of the cases, the paid court-fee is refunded and appeal shall not lie against the disposed cases.
