DIPHU, Sept 21: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has expressed profound grief at the demise of eminent singer, filmmaker and cultural icon Zubeen Garg and announced closure of all office establishments and educational institutions under its administrative control on September 22 as a mark of respect.
The Council said the decision was taken in solidarity with the people of Assam and in line with the State Mourning declared by the Government of Assam to honour Garg’s immense contributions and enduring legacy.
An order signed by the KAAC Principal Secretary stated that all official ceremonial and celebratory events will remain suspended during the period.
However, service-oriented activities such as health camps, Nikshay Mitra support for TB patients and plantation drives will continue.
