TEZPUR, April 25: ‘Mur Gaan-Mur Praan’, a book written on the ups and downs witnessed throughout the journey in the field of music by brilliant radio artist Durgamoyee Bora was released on Saturday evening at an august occasion held at the historic Baan Theatre in presence of Idris Ali, noted litterateur and former vice-president of Asom Sahitya Sabha; Kirti Kamal Bhuyan, noted lyricist; Bankim Sarma noted lyricist and president, Baan Theatre; renowned poet Dr Bipul Jyoti Saikia; Nayan Prasad, drama critic and radio artist. Prestigious award ‘Kachijoon Jibanjura Sadhana Bota’ instituted in memory of M Ibrahim Ali is presented after every five years to one having tremendous contribution towards Assamese music and this time it was conferred to artist Dugamoyee Bora. Conferring the award on the noted artist, Idrish Ali said, “This is a prestigious award and I am here to confer it on Durgamoyee Bora, who has been in the field of Assamese songs and music with her untiring efforts and dedication for long.” Attending the event another noted lyricist of the state, Kirti Kamal Bhuyan in his speech stated that though numbers of singers and lyricist are increasing day-by-day in the field of Assamese music, still a section of people seems to be waiting for someone else to preserve the rich heritage and tradition. Renowned poet Dr. Bipuljyoti Saikia, artist and drama critic Nayan Prasad; lyricist Bankim Sarma; litterateur Dr. Bhupen Saikia and noted author and publisher Janardan Goswami also shared their views in the meeting. The meeting was organised jointly by Tezpur Sahitya Sabha & Sonitpur Press Club and was hosted by Pankaj Barua whrein Bhabana Saikia and Pranami Borthakur sang popular songs of Durgamoyee Bora written by Idris Ali and Kirti Kamal Bhuyan. Durgamoyee Bora also expressed her feelings and experience of her journey throughout the years as an artist.
