Karam Puja celebrated with enthusiasm at Borpam

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 11: The 20th edition of the Karam Puja, organized by the Borpam Tiniali Karam Puja Celebration Committee, took place on Monday at Borpam, located in the northern part of Sootea. This traditional puja was celebrated in the evening with great fervor, following the customs of the community.

The event featured a series of lively cultural performances by local artists. Attendees included Jagananda Kurmi, Arun Bordoloi, Sanatan Kurmi, Nanigopal Karmakar, Deben Pator, Ramesh Bhumij, and others.

The celebration commenced with a vibrant Jhumur performance by the Jhumur team of Ghiladhari T.E. Papu Bhumij, the president, and Rahul Kurmi and Pranjal Kurmi, the joint secretaries, expressed their gratitude to all those who supported and contributed to the event.

Karam Puja is a traditional festival of the Tea Tribes Community, celebrated in the Indian calendar month of Bhadra. The festival holds significant cultural and social importance among the community members.
