DIPHU, Sept 21: The Karbi Anglong Sports Association Football Coaching Centre (KASAFCC) paid tribute to Assam icon Zubeen Garg, who died in a marine accident in Singapore on September 19, by lighting candles and incense sticks before his portrait at KASA Stadium.
The condolence meeting was led by KASAFCC coach Horen Ingti, who initiated a one-minute silent prayer for the departed soul. Young players and their parents also paid their respects by lighting candles.
Ingti said Assam has lost a talented singer, filmmaker and cultural icon who had a deep love for football.
He recalled that Garg had once visited KASA Stadium during a football event and had dreamed of making
Guwahati a football hub. “His dream remains unfulfilled, but through this condolence meeting we wanted to honour his legacy,” Ingti said, adding that many players and parents participated in the tribute.
