PHULONI, Aug 9: Daughters of late Nihang Rongphar, a former chief executive member (CEM) of erstwhile Karbi Anglong District Council alleged that their land has been encroached by one Sukuram Timung at Phuloni market under Loringthepi Police Station.
In a press conference held at the residence of Jirsong Taro (grandson of late Nihang Rongphar) at Tarabasa on Monday, said his grandfather late Nihang Rongphar has a plot of land with Dag No. 51 at Phuloni market. As there was no one to look after it, Rongphar had asked Sukumar Rongphar to look after the said plot of land.
For looking after his land late Rongphar donated 50 per cent of the land to Sukumar Rongphar, while another 50 per cent of the land with Dak No. 296 was given to his (Nihang Rongphar) two daughters Indira Rongpharpi and Moina Rongpharpi, Taro stated.
After two separate pattas were obtained the land with Dag No. 296 was claimed by Sukumar and encroached on the plot belonging to Indira Rongpharpi and Moina Rongpharpi, Taro alleged.
As alleged by Indira Rongpharpi and Moina Rongpharpi, Sukumar Rongphar claimed that the land originally belonged to him.
The two women alleged that the land dispute occurred due to the lackadaisical attitude of Mandals and SKs as they have not demarcated the land. If the Mandals and SKs acted earlier then this would not have happened, they said.
They have sought the help of CEM and EM in charge of land & Revenue in getting proper justice and demarcate the land between them and Sukumar Rongphar.
