KOKRAJHAR, Aug 14: Kokrajhar, situated at the heart of the Bodoland Territorial Council Region (BTR), is all set to mark the 77th Independence Day with a grand celebration scheduled at the Government HS & MP School parade ground on Tuesday. The town, in line with the rest of the state, has made necessary arrangements and preparations to ensure a befitting and smooth program.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in and around the parade ground, where the central Independence Day event is being organised by the district administration of Kokrajhar. Separate celebrations are also planned for Gossaigaon and Partbatjhora sub-divisions to commemorate this significant occasion.
The parade ground has been adorned with captivating decorations, accompanied by the installation of CCTV cameras to enhance security arrangements. A range of parade contingents, including Assam Police, home guards donning Khaki uniform, NCC members, and students from schools and colleges, are poised to participate in the march-past, symbolising unity and patriotism.
In anticipation of the national celebration, a comprehensive security protocol has been established throughout the district, covering all connecting roads. The occasion will also witness a vibrant multi-community cultural display, expected to draw a sizable audience.
Pushparaj Singh, SP Kokrajhar, expressed the district’s readiness for a grand Independence Day celebration. He conveyed that the parade ground has been meticulously prepared and adorned to capture the spirit of the national event. Various organisations, government offices, and even the ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party have made arrangements to celebrate the day at their respective premises.
The UPPL party is set to hold its central celebration at the youth office complex in Habrubari, while the Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL will observe the day at the district office complex. The atmosphere is charged with enthusiasm as Kokrajhar eagerly anticipates a memorable celebration of the nation’s independence.
