KOKRAJHAR, Nov 11: The swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) was held on Tuesday at the board’s office premises in Kokrajhar town.
The ruling Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) constituted the new KMB body after forming the government in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), securing a majority in the recently concluded BTC elections.
Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Wahidur Islam administered the oath of office in the presence of BTC Executive Member for Urban Development Moon Moon Brahma and MCLAs Doneswar Goyary and Jubiraj Basumatary.
A 20-member committee of the Kokrajhar Municipal Board was formally sworn in, with Bishnu Narzary taking charge as Chairperson and Arup Ghosh as Vice-Chairman, along with the newly elected Ward Commissioners.
The BPF has been constituting local urban boards across all BTC districts, as per announcements made by the concerned authorities.
