KSA branches host education awareness programme

DIPHU, Nov 4: The Langkaijan and Kirilangso branch under Diphu Regional Committee (DRC) of Karbi Students Association (KSA) Inglongpho faction has organised an education awareness programme for the students and parents of Dengja Teron LP School, Lang-etso which is 30 kilometer away from here.

President, KSA, DRC Litonsing Timung informing the villagers about the values of education said without education an individual cannot prospour.

“He/she will not have the knowledge of things and the fast changing world,” he added.

Encouraging the villagers to participate in the development of education in the locality, the president of KSA, DRC said that all the time the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) cannot provide assistance. It is by the effort of parents and guardians that need to work in the collective way for the development of education.

Timung made a suggestion of contributing Rs 10, Rs 20 and Rs 100 from every individual for appointing an extra teacher for starting a coaching centre for the children.

“You spend Rs.10 or Rs.20 daily unnecessarily for liquor drinking (locally made liqour). We can contribute the amount for starting a coaching centre for our children. The money can be used for paying the salary of the teacher. In this way we can improve the education of our children here,” Timung said.

The suggestion made by Timung was happily agreed by all and a coaching centre will be started soon. Timung was the first person to extend his contribution for this purpose.

The programme was also attended by vice presidents, KSA, DRC, Rajib Lekthe and other leaders like Krishna Rongpi, Jirsong Timung and president, KSA Inglongkiri branch, Jiten Ronghang and SGBs of the area.
