DIBRUGARH, Aug 10: The Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), Dibrugarh Ekai (branch) was officially inaugurated on Sunday at Hotel Tea County in Dibrugarh.
The Dibrugarh branch of LUB was formed in presence of Assam State Industry minister Bimal Borah and Om Prakash Mittal, Akhil Bhartiya ex-president and East Prabhari, LUB.
LUB, a registered national-level organisation for micro and small industries.
Speaking on the occasion, Bimal Borah said, “We have to promote the small-scale industries under LUB. Today, the Dibrugarh branch of LUB was officially formed. I would like to thank the office bearers of the new LUB and appeal to them to work for the industrial development of the region by involving the youths of Assam.”
He said, “We should think differently and encourage young entrepreneurs to come forward to set up MSME industries in the upper Assam region. There is lots of scope for downstream industries in upper Assam because we have BCPL, and we can get raw materials from BCPL very easily.”
“The small tea growers should be encouraged to produce good tea leaves which would be both beneficial for the leaf factory owners and small tea growers,” the minister added.
Om Prakash Mittal spoke about the importance of LUB and how the MSME sector has been benefiting from it.
“We are one of India’s largest MSME industry networks in India, with over 550 chapters and over 700 branches. We have members in every district of India working towards the welfare of MSEs in India. We have grass-root level insights into the challenges faced by the MSEs as well as changing industry trends and practices on the ground,” Mittal said.
He said, “Earlier villages were self-sufficient and products from the villages were exported to other countries. We have to bring back our lost glory by becoming self-sufficient. The LUB will work for the upliftment of small-scale industries.”
“We should not only chase after profit, if we do proper business, profit will definitely come but apart from profit making, we should work for the development of our nation and help our nation to become self-sufficient,” Mittal asserted.
Sushil Goenka was selected as the president of Dibrugarh branch LUB and Santosh Kejeriwal was selected as the secretary of LUB. A new member committee was formed for the Dibrugarh branch LUB to look after the issues faced by the MSME.
Manoj Lunda, president of LUB Purvattar Prant, Ravi Sureka, general secretary of LUB Purvattar Prant and Ashish Deorah, Akhil Bhartiya general secretary and North East Prabhari, Santanu Bhattacharya among others were present during the inauguration of Dibrugarh branch LUB.
