DIPHU, Oct 15: Global Hand Washing Day was observed by Lhangmi Welfare Society Manja in collaboration with Manja Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) at Covenant English School, Manja, Karbi Anglong on Saturday.
President of Lhangmi Welfare Society, Lengin Singson gave the welcome speech. Teachers, students and parents of the school attended the programme. Singson highlighted the observation of Global Hand Washing Day and raised awareness of the importance of washing hands with soap and water.
Rev. S Singson attended the programme as a guest speaker and in his speech mentioned that Global Hand Washing Day is a yearly reminder that hand washing with soap and water is important for hygiene. It is one of the best methods to avoid getting sick and stop the spread of germs.
Block programme manager (BPM) of Manja, BPHC, Williamson Rongphar said that hand washing with soap can help protect oneself, family and the community from getting sick.
The staff of BPHC, Najrul Islam demonstrated the steps of washing hands to the students.
