Margherita Block Congress Committee, Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee organise Lachit Divas

MARGHERITA, Nov 24: Margherita Block Congress Committee and Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee jointly organised ‘Lachit Divas’ on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan at Bargolai Colliery playground under 124 no Margherita constituency of Tinsukia district.
Senior Congress leader and vice president of Margherita Block Congress Committee Toufik Khan, youth Congress leaders of Margherita Alfaz Ahmed and Gourav Sharma, Nojrul Hussain, Monuj Borgohain, Tinsukia District youth Congress Committee general secretary Satyendra Prasad, Margherita NSUI president Abhijit Baruah, Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee president Avishek Kumar Beldar, Shyamal Sewri, Sunita Bawri, Purvattor Hindustani Sanmelan Margherita Regional committee president Rajshekhar Ambedkar, Bargolai social worker Bacchu Lal Bind and many more distinguished persons of Bargolai area were present.
The programme started with the lighting of earthen lamps and floral tribute before the portrait of Mahabir Lachit Borphukan by Margherita Block Congress Committee vice president Toufik Khan followed by other congress leaders and present guests.
Alfaz Ahmed said, “Mahabir Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birth anniversary is being celebrated with huge enthusiasm and gaiety all over our country.”
Several competitions such as dance competition, drawing competition and speech competition were held among the school students.
Omprakash Ambedkar, president, Baragolai Mandal Congress Committee gave the vote of thanks to all the present distinguished and resource persons.
