MORIGAON, June 19: The Morigaon District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) on Friday organised a farewell programme in honour of District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) Pompy Devi at the Morigaon Press Club.
The programme was held in a cordial atmosphere and attended by members of the journalist fraternity and well-wishers.
MDJA president Ajit Sarma felicitated the outgoing officer with a traditional gamosa and a memento in recognition of her service and cooperation with the media during her tenure in the district.
Earlier, MDJA secretary Guljarilal Sharma explained the objective of the meeting and highlighted the cordial relationship maintained between the Information and Public Relations Department and local media organisations over the years.
Pompy Devi has been transferred to Jorhat as District Information and Public Relations Officer and has also been attached as Public Relations Officer to Assam Minister for Women and Child Development Ajanta Neog.
Addressing the gathering, Devi recalled her three-year tenure in Morigaon and expressed gratitude to journalists of the district for their support and cooperation in carrying out various official responsibilities.
She said the encouragement and assistance extended by media persons had greatly contributed to the successful dissemination of government information and public awareness initiatives during her posting in the district.
Members of the association wished her success in her future assignments and appreciated her efforts in maintaining a constructive relationship with the media fraternity in Morigaon.
