GUWAHATI, July 26: Assam minister for PHE, SEED & Tourism, Jayanta Mallabaruah, who is on a three-day visit to Barak valley, on Tuesday attended a review meeting with the local district administration officials held at the Cachar deputy commissioner’s conference hall.
In the meeting, the minister reviewed the damages caused by the recent deluge in Cachar besides taking stock of the Government grants given to the victims. He instructed the Water Resources department officials to monitor various river dams and sluice gates located in the district. The minister assured to provide sophisticated means to clear out drains to solve the problem of water logging in Silchar.
Mallabaruah while talking to the officials of the Education department said that the primary schools and those schools which have classes from primary to higher secondary standards will get financial assistance if they are affected by the flood. He also learnt details about the health camps after the flood, diseases and illnesses from the district Health department.
Legislators of the district including Dipayan Chakraborty, Mihir Kanti Som, Kaushik Rai, Khalil Uddin Majumder and others were also present in the meeting.
