‘Moi Dr Sukha Baruyai koisu’ released at Moran

SIVASAGAR, Sept 16: ‘Moi Dr Sukha Baruyai Koisu’, the
autobiographical compilation of AIR interviews Dr Sukha
Barua, the founder and principal of Moran Women’s College
and a literary pensioner, was released by Subarna Saikia, the
president, Sadau Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samity at a function
held on the day of her Adyashrardha in her residence in
Ushapur, Moran on Thursday.
The interviews were taken on different occasions by Dr Anil
Kumar Saikia.
Subarna  Saikia recalled her close association with Dr Barua
who was a pillar of strength for the women writers’ forum in
the state.  The commemorative volume of Dr Barua,
‘Ratnagarbha Sukha Barua: byaktitwa, sristi aru xannidhya’, was
released by noted academician and professor of Dibrugarh
University Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika.
Dr Hazarika in her speech said that Dr Sukha Barua was a
valiant fighter for women’s rights and a prominent organiser
besides being a writer of repute. The meeting was addressed
among others by the former vice chancellor of Dibrugarh
University Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, general secretary of Sadau
Asom Lekhika Samaroh Manomoti Kurmi, working president of
Sadau Asom Mahila Kobi Mancha Pushpa Gogoi, former
principal of Moran College Dr Anil Saikia, principal Moran
Women’s College Jayashree Phukan, noted poet Prema Gogoi,
and poet Snigdha Gogoi. The programme included garlanding

Dr Sukha Barua’s portrait, a prayer session, and lighting of
earthen lamps.
