SIVASAGAR, Nov 21: Residents of Moran have raised concerns over the uncontrolled expansion of meat and fish vendors along the AT Road, despite repeated complaints to the local authorities. Citizens say the Moran Municipality Board has failed to designate proper vending areas or permanent stalls, allowing sellers to operate openly on the roadside, contributing to pollution and congestion.

The recent widening of AT Road, initiated by Local Minister Jogen Mohan, aimed to ease traffic and provide parking spaces. However, residents claim that permitting vendors to occupy these open areas has reversed the benefits, leaving no parking slots for vehicle owners who pay road taxes.

Tapaswini Borthakur, a housewife living near Kalimandir Crematorium, said vendors have blocked her entrance and pollute the surroundings by dumping fish and meat waste on the road. “We have reported this multiple times, but nothing has been done,” she said, urging the Co-district Commissioner to intervene.

Senior journalist Trailukya Chetia added that despite infrastructure improvements, the town faces chaos due to lack of civic regulation. Residents now hope authorities take swift action to regulate vending and restore public order in Moran.
