KOKRAJHAR, July 2: The Members of Parliament from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) met Union minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, government of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, on Monday to submit a memorandum seeking early solutions to issues related to the Bodo medium, including the introduction of the Bodo language in the Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET).
Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary and Lok Sabha MP from Kokrajhar constituency, Joyanta Basumatary, met with Union Cabinet minister Pradhan at his official residence in New Delhi. They discussed in detail the issues concerning the Bodo language and educational upliftment in the region and across the nation.
During their meeting, the MPs submitted a memorandum requesting the creation of sanctioned posts of professors and assistant professors in Bodo subjects in the department of MIL & LS, University of Delhi. They also requested various posts in universities and colleges and the introduction of the Bodo language in CTET, among other issues.
The Union Cabinet minister listened patiently to the issues and concerns raised by the MPs from the Bodoland region and assured them that necessary steps would be taken to address these issues.
MP Narzary described the meeting as fruitful in addressing the issues of the Bodo language and the educational environment in the region. He mentioned that the Union Cabinet minister expressed his support for the welfare and upliftment of the Bodo language and education in the coming days.
“Today, we met Union Cabinet minister Pradhan and highlighted the issues of the Bodo language and education before the Union minister. We hope that the present NDA alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take strong steps towards the welfare and developmental issues of the Bodoland region,” Narzary added.
